Dr James Warren
Clinical Psychologist (BSc, MSc, DClinPsy, CPsychol)
I’m a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist based in Bristol, and I work with people navigating significant life challenges, including: the psychological impact of trauma, health-related difficulties, acquired brain injury, anxiety, and mood changes. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practice and shaped by a deep respect for each person’s story and lived experience.
My work is informed by a strong understanding of how changes in the brain, nervous system, and body can affect emotions, thinking, and relationships. This can be particularly helpful for people adjusting to injury, illness, or feeling “not quite themselves” after difficult or overwhelming experiences.
I’m trained in a range of therapeutic models, including Systemic / Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and third-wave approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). I aim to work collaboratively and compassionately to develop a shared formulation, understand patterns that maintain distress, and support meaningful, values-led change.
Alongside my NHS work in Major Trauma and neurorehabilitation, I offer a limited number of private therapy spaces. For more information about my background, approach, and how I work, please visit my website.
